The country with the most rivers is Bangladesh. The country is called "the
land of the rivers" because of its extensive network of five river systems.
The rivers in Bangladesh generally flow south and are widely used natural
resources for fishing, irrigation, transport, Tourism and power. Maximum
Peoples of our Country directly depends on rivers mostly. Our rivers
connected with our culture, ritual, heritage and history. If rivers die
everything dies. As well as people loss their income source. Right now our
maximum rivers are polluted and encroached. For this reason we establish
Climate school for Educating, empowering and rehabilitating river dependent
deprived people. Another aim of Climate school is create river starter.
River Starter is an environmental education Program to learn about the
environment, water resources and rivers and emphasizes not only about water
but every aspect of fresh water ecosystems including its Biodiversity,
functions, values and benefits to mankind. Any kinds of school can join
River starter Program.
Civic Science Approach of RIVER Starter Program
Bangladesh River Foundation prides to introduce the concept of ‘Civic
Science’ as a way to approach community participation in river and water
management. the concept mean to bring thoughts about issue from the mind
down to the heart, by giving the people awareness, knowledge and most
importantly skill to take action on environmental matters. Global
Environment Center-Malaysia initiated this concept and gained success.

The RIVER Starter involves Theory and practical training in river and water
management. The RIVER Starter program cover 5 training modules, which teach
participants about the current status of river management in Bangladesh and
what their role is in caring for our rivers.

Starter program and provide training for your school. RIVER Starter schools
are also invited to participate in local environmental events where they are
able to meet other schools in the program.
